Hi there,

The specializations clearly helps us to understand the difference.

Earlier education was not as simplified as of now.
Everything was unable under one heading itself. It was a comprehensive pattern of studying.

But due to modernization and role differentiation every role has been given a separate entity.
And so you see many such specializations.

Coming back to your question.

Communication engineer, was earlier the only specialization available.
When we speak of communication it includes all the means which makes life easier, mainly electronics to electrical. This includes Computers, television and telephones. Now the main connecting point for all these are electrical systems or wiring .
Now as a communication engineering, one is well equipped to handle crisis related to all such devices.

But these days, one man show does not work. And moreover technology has seen indefinite changes.
So we needed technicians who could address specific related issues.
There steps in the rest of the specialization.

A Computer engineer mainly deals with issues relayed to hardware and developing sustainable and user friendly hardware. He would be the research guy, who would be mainly involved in dealing and inventing mechanism of computers that can make life simper and portable.

To run the devices, the inside mechanisms needs to be in proper condition. Here steps in the circuit board functions. Here comes the electronic engineer.
He is the person who is the troubleshooter for all circuit and connectivity related issues.

Hence these different specializations can be seen.

As a communication engineer, you would have a comprehensive knowledge but to be specific as the industry demand, at the masters level you could select either telecom or computer engineer or electrical engineer.

But in case if you wish to have strong base initially, then you could select your specialization at the graduate level depending on your interests area.

Hope you are clear with the differences.

Wish you all the very best.............
