Hello!

Thank you for contacting Mera career guide and writing to us. I am glad you approached us to seek advice. First of all I would like to congratulate you for choosing lucrative ways like freelancing to diversifying your career. Fashion designing is done for every common people around us and trying to approach them and interacting with them will help you better design your works. Freelancing is one of the option to increase your designing portfolio and as well earning some extra money. A fashion designer is better evaluated by his more creative portfolio works. Here are some ways you could take to pursue the freelancing route.

1. Teaching: You could work as a part time teacher for designing schools. Designing schools require people with certain degree of expertise at corporate or company level. They offer short term or evening/ weekend teaching opportunities for people working at companies. You can also try a career in teaching and test if you like it and as well earn some extra bucks for managing your day to day expenses in life.

2. Part time freelance designer for company: You could also work part time for other clothing company. But you need to cehck with your current company if their policy allows their own and current employees to work part time for their competitor companies. Not every company I know encourages this, but you can have a word with the HR of your company and take their permission before you try.

3. Part time freelancer for designing school: You can also work as a part time designer for a designing school. Most of the schools require freelancers to work for them and offer their designs at their display and you can do one too.

4. Freelancer for other clothing designer shops: You could work for clothing studios and be a part time designer for them. Try approaching designer studios if they want to recruit you to work on some particular designing. You can also put your designs on their display and get brand name.

5. Setting up your own shop: If you dont want to work for others, you can very well set up your own designing studio and put your designs on your own display. You can also recruit other local designers to offer their expertise in exchange of money for your studio.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
