As a Physicists, you would have to be strong in Physics and Math as a subject.

The role of a Physicists involves studying the world around and uncovering the laws that govern how and why an object exists and behave as they do...You encompass all aspects from Technology to communication to energy to space and satellites.

As a Physicists, you should possess an inquiring mind, answering to questions like Why, how, what if and soon and so forth....
Since it is purely a Research oriented field, work involves mostly being alone and getting involved in answering the research question.
As such you could work in a Laboratory, factory setting, to outdoors, i.e, fieldwork.
You would mainly be involved in briefing about your project work which involves conducting experiments and then writing about your findings in Journals, newspapers and other research books and journals.

As a Physicist you would normally be engaged in:
  • Theoretical Analysis: developing ideas, usingcomputationalmethods and mathematical techniques to derive a solutionto exiting theories
  • ExperimentalPure and Applied Research: devising controlled experiments to tests how welltheoriesstand up toresults.
You could apply your knowledge to many industries like:
  • Developing new Medical instruments and techniques
  • Climate forecasting
  • Working in Satellite technology and Space technology
  • Power technology and generation
  • Robotics and Artificial engineering
  • New methods in teaching

As such this is purely a Research job, whereby there is no fixed timings. You could work as a freelancer, but you would require space and time, as well as materials required for research. So Research can be done all alone, but for carrying out the research you would be hired by an organization to use their materials and space.

Hope this answers your question.

Wish you all the very best...
