Any 12th pass student any stream studied Math and a minimum 50%, after clearing an entrance exam can pursue BCA.

BCA stands from 'Bachelor of computer application'. It is a 3-year graduation degree course. It is for those students who want to learn computer languages and want to work for software companies in future. Students who fail to seek admission in 4 year BTech course in computer science also opt for BCA course.

BCA imparts great skills in the field of software development technology. It also develop skills on software technology and enhance their knowledge on higher platform. There are many good colleges and universities who could duct this course and they take entrance exam to get into BCA course.

Eligibility Criteria

The general eligibility BCA aspirants is that they have to score minimum of 50% marks in class 12th. The student can be of any stream - science or commerce, but many universities prefer students of science stream over Commerce Stream. Some universities seek admission by entrance tests and some universities seek admission by percentage of class 12th exams.

B.tech or BCA?

There are many students who are confused between b.tech or BCA, as which should one choose for graduation.

Here, we tell the difference between the two courses -

1- B.tech is a 4-year graduate degree course, whereas BCA is a 3-year graduation degree course.

2- B.tech is a more professional course as compared to BCA because B.tech contains more subjects to study and gives a deep knowledge.

3 - The most basic difference is that B.tech teaches engineering in special fields while BCA teaches computer and it's applications.

4- A BCA students need to complete MCA  after graduation in order to compete with a BTech student.

5- BTech being a higher degree is more job oriented whereas BCA more likely have to pursue masters degree.

BCA or BSc. (Computer Science)?

Another point confusion for science students is between  BCA or BSc in computer science. Here are the key differences-

1- BCA is computer application whereas BSc graduates are interested in internet and database operations. However, both these courses provide challenging jobs.

2-The common thing between BCA and BSc graduates is that both pursue masters after graduation. They may take up MCA, MBA or MSc (IT or CS) as further studies.

Which course is better?

BCA course is also a good option for students who wish to take a postgraduate degree in MCA. Both the courses are computer related and provide jobs in that sector only.
