Designing is the blend of artistic talents and creativity.Interior Designing involves the designing and coordinating of the decorative elements of the interior of a house, apartment, office or other structural space. It includes a lot of elements like colour scheme, fittings, furnishings and sometimes architectural features. In short it is concerned with designing living space in a manner that is aesthetically appealing as well as functionally useful.

The basic eligibility for Interior design course is +2 with 55% aggregate. Interior Design is offered as a specialization in 4 year Bachelor of Fine-Arts (BFA) programs which can be pursued immediately after 10+2

Some institutes conduct an entrance exam for drawing and designing skills, you also need to show to the colleges/ institutes a portfolio of work that displays their drawing skills as well as ideas. The main entrance exams for interior design are:

  • For Under Graduate level courses - AIEED (All India Entrance Examination for Design)
  • For Post Graduate level courses- CEED (Common Entrance Examination for Design)
  • Only those students who have done their Architecture Degree can appear for CEED.
  • CEPT Entrance Exam - Conducted by Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology.
