Scientific bent of mind, technical aptitude, enquiring approach and keen power of observations etc are some of the useful traits to do well in this profession. Advanced courses demand high degree of academic ability , creative imagination , an analytical mind , resourcefulness, curiosity and problem solving nature. The Bachelor's and master's degree in disciplines like rubber technology, plastic technology, polymer science, chemical etc are prerequisite to make career in this field. Admission to bachelor's degree courses are open to students who have completed 12th with physics, chemistry and math. The admission process usually involves an entrance test i.e. JEE-Main. Master's degree courses would require the relevant bachelor's degree and GATE score or as required by the institution. MTech polymer programmeor equivalent are offered to candidates with a Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering / Chemical Technology/or an equivalent examination or master's degree in Technical, applied or industrial chemistry.
