Hello My Dear...

This is one of the very good and apt queries I have come across CareerGuide.com. Research Analyst is a dynamic position in corporate today and candidates with specialised knowledge are very much required.

I am glad that you decided to approach CareerGuide.com for seeking clarification to the wonderful query.

Research Analyst is such a position that irrespective of the type of company or sector, industry requires such people who can research. This research may be of the market, of the stock market, of the product, of the services, of the innovation, of science, of information technology, of software... anything!!! Research Analyst is a position which is highly reputed and demanded in the industry.

Generally Research Analyst is a position famous in the services, banking, finance sector and companies. Research Analysts are required on full time basis as employees in sectors like banking, insurance, mutual funds, information technology, actuaries, marketing, product development, medical, arts, commerce, engineering, construction, infrastructure, data companies, etc. The avenues for people inclined towards research analysts positions is very vast and growing.

To qualify for a Research Analyst positions in the companies / sector as already mentioned above, a person should be preferably a post graduation in a relevant field of choice and company / sector. For Research Analyst positions in BFSI (Banking, Finance, Services, Insurance) generally the industry prefers MBA/Chartered Accountant positions.

However I have also seen that many companies take experienced people for the position and designation of a Research Analyst. Research Analyst may be a position higher than the General Analyst. However this not a rule and depends on company to company and sector to sector.

Other qualifications which I have seen people take are Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Accountant / Cost Accountant, MCom, MSc, etc. The most common qualification with which a person gets to be a Research Analyst is 'MBA'.

Therefore as far as eligibility is concerned, the above mentioned qualifications are very much recommended and then after gaining a good amount of experience in research, people can rise upto the higher levels in the company like Research Head, Research Chief, Research Deputy, VP - Research, etc.

The scope for Research is tremendous and the people with good mathematical ability, logical reasoning, decision making abilities, can very much work confidently.

Best Luck
