There are not hard and fast rigid rules for getting the job of a Tourist Guide or Manager. However there are quite a few things that will be the matter of concern for the employer if you want to go for this job. Please read below for the further information.


1. You need to have a management degree as most of the well known tourism agencies will prefer people with that qualification. The management degree could be different. There are quite a few universities that offer degree or diploma in the tourism management sector. If you have that then it's enough. In case you do not have such degree, a general management degree may also work but in that case you should have relevant work experience in the tourism sector or as a traveler.

2. You need to have that travel experience across the country or outside it depending on the job requirements. You should be an avid traveler by yourself. This is the important part of your job - to enjoy the travels. If you don't enjoy that, you cannot love your job as a Tourist Guide or Manager.

3. Your academic qualifications are not that relevant except the management degree requirement as mentioned in the first point, but you need to prepare your resume well. You should clearly mention in your resume how and why you got interested in the job only then they will consider you as a strong candidate.

4. Tourist Guide or Manager job is about managing, guiding and working with people. You need to be a team player to perform your duties in this job role, then only you can be successful. Keep in mind that it's always going to be a team work in this profession and no amount of individual work is going to take you to the success but only a shared work approach. You also need to communicate really well among your team members and the clients in order to mark your impression and get things done. Therefore these skills are really important for this job.
