Dear friend, many thanks for your question. You have not mentioned your academic qualifications and what you are doing at present.

Since you have asked about the geologist, therefore, you must have studies the subject geology. The geologist is a scientist who studies the solid and liquid matter that constitutes the earth and other process and history that have shaped it. Geologists are engaged in studying the geology , which is an applied part of science rather than theoretical. The geologists study physics, chemistry, mathematics and statistics also. The main job opportunities for a geologists are in governmental sector and in multinational companies which are involved in explorations. Technically speaking a geologist is a person who have obtained the degree of masters in science or M tech in geology. The salary of a person depends upon many factors, such as Academic qualifications of the person, the place of work, the number of years of relevant experience and other additional qualifications.

The academic qualification is very important, if the person with doctoral degree have more chances of getting entry level job caompared to a masters degree holder. The person with PhD will be inducted as lecturer, assistant professor, assistant scientist or technical person in governmental sector such as colleges, research institution, universities and governmental laboratories. The salary will be in the pay scale of Rs. 15600 - 37100 plus academic grade pay (AGP) of Rs 5400 per month. This salary increases with increase in experience and promotion.
The experience of a person is also very important, the person having some years of relevant experience has an edge of the fresher. Some governmental organization offer higher salary for experienced person.
The place of work, whether you are working in governmental sector (colleges, schools, research institutions or governmental laboratories) is also important. The reason being in governmental sector person in research gets better pay scale compared to a person involved in teaching in schools or colleges. If a geologist is working in multinational companies or private company such as Reliance, the entry level of a geologist will be around Rs. 1,00,00 per month.
In Middle East region the salary of a fresher geologist is comparatively much higher than compared to his Indian counterpart. The salary could be around Rs. 2,00,000 to 3,00,00 per month. The facilities given by the companies is also very decent.
Now it depends upon you which sector you would like to join.
With all my best wishes,

Good Luck..
