Hi,

Psychology is the study of human behavior. To pursue a career as psychologist, one should have a genuine desire to help other human beings.
Psychology mainly works with the human mind and thoughts.

Psychologist need not have medical degree. But one need to specialize and gain a lot of experience. Psychologist analyzes different intentions, reaction and feelings of mankind.

There are various branches of psychology one can study. Clinical psychology, counseling psychology, Career counseling , Industrial psychology, Health psychology, Sports psychology, Community psychology, School psychology etc.
Social work is also closely related to psychology.

Courses offered in this area are BA hons psychology, BA pass with psychology as one of the subject, MA in psychology, Mphil and Phd.

Jobs- A psychology graduate can start as an intern with senior psychologist or work in psychiatric hospitals, Rehab centers or NGO's. One can have its own private clinic or guidance center with few years of experience. One can even go for School or university level teaching. Research is another option. For university level teaching one need to appear for UGC NET exam in psychology.

Salary depends on years of work experience and practice. A fresher working in NGO's or public organization can expect from 4000-6000 pm. One can earn more in private practice.

All the best
