A veterinarian is a person who not only treats animals but also helps animals to remain in good health. Veterinary profession is suitable for those who love animals and has compassionate predisposition for animals. The main role of veterinarian is to offer services to the community by facilitating health care of animals, ensuring veterinary public health, caring for sick animals and alleviating their sufferings. A person chooses the profession assumes the obligation to conduct oneself in accordance with the noble ideals of serving the mute and dumb creatures. It is necessary for veterinarian to exercise clear and vigorous application of mind. To be a veterinarian one should have an aptitude and interest in biological sciences, ability to instill confidence in animals, great physical stamina, excellent power of observation, adaptability , self reliance , ability for team work and good communication skills
.Since animals are not able to verbally explain their pain and sufferings, a person should have the ability and keen interest in studying animal behavior that helps diagnosing any expression o pain or abnormal behavior.
