After 12th I would strongly suggest you to complete the basic graduation.
Along side with graduation, you can definitely do courses in designing (6 months or 1 year certificate or diploma courses). Do not leave your graduation.
Designing is required in every field and majorly today graphic and web designing is in demand. Apart from this is fashion designing, Interior designing are areas in which you can do your career.

Choose area of interest within design: Design is very broad field so you need to choose specific field. Careee expert Meghna very well explained areas within design. Choose Field of your interest.
Do graduate course: I do not recommended diploma or certificate courses. Take up UGC recognized graduate course in your area of interest.
Post graduate course would be advisable if you want to choose job as a career.
Get work experience: Get industry and market experience. This will help you apply knowledge gained in graduation, understand market and learn important skills.
Set up own entrepreneurship: after considerable work experience, you can set up your own business.
