. The subject zoology has great scope in school, colleges and universities. The zoology is study of animals and the those who study the animals is known as zoologist.

As you have asked about the non technical courses to make career in zoology. The minimum qualifications to make a career in zoology is the Post graduation (MSc). The subjects are animal biology, zoology, animal behavior, animal conservation. All these subjects are theoretical as well do have practical aspects. The reason is as a zoologist has to study the animals, their behavior, their reproduction, their feeding habits, their physiological aspects. Therefore, one has to study the courses of zoology and related subjects. A graduate person cannot be called as zoologist, as in graduation degree program a background of subject has been taught. The details of the subject are only discussed during the post graduation program, and the advance things are being studied during doctoral degree program.

Zoologists

The common subjects which are being studied during post graduation degree of zoology are;

Taxonomy and Biosystematics

Animal Physiology

Entomology

Cell Biology

General genetics

Biochemistry

Biotechnology and Molecular Biology

Structure and Functions of Invertebrates

Vertebrates

Developmental Biology

In fact, the subjects differ from university to university. But in general a basic as well as advance background is being taught during post graduation to make the student excel. In the fourth semester, the student also carry out a research project. During this project, the student learns the basic research tools, methodology and how to carry out research, collect data, analyze the data and write thesis. There is an experienced zoologist, who guide the student as supervisor.

The zoologist could work in laboratory or in the field. In the laboratory , the zoologist observe closely the animals using latest equipment, while in field the animals are observed from a distance. For field conditions, the person is supposed to to be physically fit, alert and healthy.

Now people are working on molecular level of zoology. They no longer work on classification or studying the morphology of animal. Using sophisticated tools, the zoologist study in details about cell structure.

If you wish to make your career in zoology, then my sincere advice will be that, you should go for Post Graduation in Zoology.

Good Luck...
