What should choose between Software developer and Bank PO

I'm a MCA 2012 Passout. I have been looking for a Software developer job in bangalore since October 2012, but didn't get. Now I've another option of joining Kotak Mahindra Bank as PO(by some reference). But I'm confused whether to search more for Software developer job or to join the Bank. I need help. Can I get a good career in Bank? Is yes, then would it be better than IT(in terms of money and job satisfaction).

Hey Dear,

It is one of the times that must be really hard for you what is best choice for you..... I am pretty sure that you must have tried hard to look for a job but as the time of recession has really started there has been a considerable decrease of jobs in this field. But that does not mean that you are not qualified enough or credible enough to get a job in the same.

The question is very typical and situational and it is really difficult to give you a right answer for the same. Both jobs are good but many things depend on the interest of an individual and I am sure that you entered the software development line and did MCA because you were interested in the same and wanted to work in the same field but the the circumstances are such that you are looking for opportunities outside your area of work.

To be frank the job and profile of a Bank PO and a Software engineer is very different and even contrasting to some extent and it is really difficult to say if you would like that area of work.

Though banks are a good options and give a lucrative salary as well and as of now it could be your choice as well as siting ideal will be both a mark of a failure for your personal and professional career and hence if you are getting a job in a bank and you think that it suits you are you would be happy doing it definitely go for it.

Sometimes right things come are way the hard way and benefit us in the long run. But to be true the job might be very different and working in a private bank could even be a target based job as well. So do consider all the points before entering into the bank and if you are so interested then try for government banks as well. You could even become a specialist officer in the same bank which is still a better position.

Best Wishes......

We can compare both by the following factors.

1. On the basis of Salary:

Starting salary for Bank PO Job - 38,000 – 42,000

Starting salary for IT Job - 20,000 – 25,000

We know that one day bank will pay us atleast 40% - 50% more than than the IT Companies. So it is very clear that here the Bank Jobs Wins.

2. On the basis of Job Security:

It is very clear that Bank Po Job is the GOVT Job !!

Only this is quite enough for the comparison.

3. On the basis of Job Location:

Bank PO: Mainly in the rural Areas.

IT Job: Metro Cities.

In this factor IT field wins the race. Most of us want to to job in the urban areas or the metro cities.
