Career in Gemology & jewellery Design

There are some of us who moan and dwindle our thumbs in Impatience during every visit to the jewellery shop, while our Mothers admire the thousands of glittering precious pieces of the Earth. While gemologists are more craft-oriented, jewelry designers focus more on the Aesthetics and the pattern of arrangement of jewels in their piece of jewellery such as Necklaces, bracelets, earrings etc. As a gemologist, you will be involved in giving shape To gemstones, making gem sculptures, exporting jewels etc. In the profession of a Jewellery designer, you will be creating new patterns using your imagination, mixing and Matching different combinations of jewels, creating new types of adornment and also, be In constant interaction with crafts persons and gemologists. This profession is expected To grow by leaps and bounds in the near future owing to rising consciousness for fashion.

  • Leading to a Bachelor’s in Fine art With a specialization In jewellery design.
  • Pursuing a diploma Course in Gemology Or jewellery Designing, after a Basic undergraduate Degree, preferably in Fine Art.
  • For taking up Research in this field Pursuing an Undergraduate Degree in chemistry, Geology or physics. Various postgraduate And Certificate courses in Diamond technology;
  • Planning and Marketing, hard shape Grooving, diamond Trade management etc are also available.
