Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is one of the finest institute in the world. The way to MIT is not so easy but not at all impossible.

You need to have a excellent academic background. With atleast 85-95% in your board exams. You need to give the TOEFL test, SAT reasoning test and SAT subject tests(one in maths and other in science}. Scores required for each of the examinations are 90/100 for internet based testor 577/600 for paper based test.( TOEFL test), 2200/2400(SAT1 Reasoning test), 750/800 For SAT2 (each subject test). Maths and science.

However, all students are required to demonstrate minimum competence in fields they will continue to study at MIT. It is recommend that all international students study:

  • Four years of English
  • Mathematics, at least to the level of calculus
  • Two or more years of history / social studies
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics

While these courses are not strictly required, studying them will increase the chances that you will be sufficiently prepared academically to attend MIT.

Application Process

International students fill out the same application as domestic students. For more information, you should read more about:

Dates & Deadlines

International students may only apply during the regular action cycle. As such, the dates and deadlines are as follows:

  • As soon as possible: create a MyMIT account
  • Early September of your application year: begin filling out Part 1 of the application
  • December 10th: deadline to contact your interviewer
  • January 1st: deadline to apply to MIT
  • January/February: complete the Midyear Report as soon as it is available
  • February 15th: deadline to submit all Financial Aid materials
  • Late March: decisions released

Hope this helps
