After doing B.Tech in Computer Engineering off course you can join for the company if your aim to start the career in any software company. But there is other way also available for Higher Education and it is M.Tech in computer or allied branch. It is necessary to understand the who generally do the master degree in Engineering after graduation. Generally, after M.Tech there are two major ways one which opens for careers in Teaching and Other which opens for the research work. If you want to join in some engineering college as Professor, doing M.Tech in Mandatory as per the AICTE norms. It may be Diploma Polytechnic College of Degree Engineering College M.Tech is mandatory qualification to join this profession. the other way in which M.Tech gives way in the field of Research. You can probably join the Ph.D. programme after doing your M.Tech. because for joining any Ph.D. programme it is necessary to finish the Post graduation in that respective field. Or you can also work in to the research wing of any firm.

Depending upon the above two criteria it is necessary to decide whether to do the M.Tech or not. If these criteria are matching with the interest you have then M Tech will be helpful to you. Many students join the company on the basis of B.Tech only. Because M.Tech is not criteria in many software companies for recruitment. Only B.Tech can do.

If the M.Tech is done from any IIT or NIT then it is more valued than the doing it from any other institution. The quality of research work performed during the M.Tech course can generate the better job opportunities for you.

For getting in to the any IIT or NIT it is necessary to give the GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) examination. The Govt of India also gives the scholarship to finish the M.Tech course. This scholarship is given for entire period of 2 years. but it is necessary to do the fundamental study for GATE examination. The pattern of questions are objective type and more towards the fundamentals of the subject.

You can do the GATE preparation after joining any job also but the getting the time for the preparation is one of difficulty one face with doing of job.

The job after M.Tech may not give the immediate hike in the salary but the higher qualification is always counted when there is time for promotions after few years of experience. So if you do not have responsibilities you can go for doing M.Tech from IIT or NIT then can join any software company.
