Hello Manish,

Power technology is a very specialised field and has a lot of scope in India and abroad. It would mainly involve working in any of the power generation companies or even Governmental organizations dealing with the same.

The National Power Training Institute, in Gopal nagar, Nagpur, offers a Post Graduate Diploma in Thermal Power Plant Engineering. This is a one year programme including on-the-job training at thermal power stations.

Those from mechanical, electrical and power engineering background can apply. There is a Common Entrance Test conducted around June every year. Unfortunately you have missed this year's exam. Their applications are generally available in April.

The Visvesaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) offers two MTech programmes, in Integrated power systems and power electronics and drives with 20 seats each. I is a two year programme and you need togo throughGATE to be considered for admission here.

Hope this information suffices.

All the best!
