Maharashtra conducts a huge examination called Maharashtra common entrance test MHT CET for getting admission into its engineering courses. The test is conducted mainly in the month of May or a month and a half after 12th board examinations are over. Based upon merit score and category wise cutoffs, students will have to opt for various rounds after which they are allotted colleges according to their preference.

For getting admission to IITs student will have to opt for JEE Mains and JEE advanced. Nearly 2 lakh students will be selected through JEE mains that will have to again appear and qualify JEE advance examination.

As far as NITs are concerned, until now the admissions were based upon AIEEE score. But now onward, the admissions to NITs will be based upon JEE mains score.

Conclusion

Top colleges in Maharashtra offer a superior opportunity to complete a vibrant engineering education. Same time, the fact that these colleges are top ranked makes the CET examination a competitive one. Students will have to raise their bar for getting admission into these institutes. Now a day not only students from Maharashtra but also from various neighboring states apply for getting admission into Maharashtra’s engineering colleges. This makes the competition even more severe and demands a concentrated well-planned study for two years.

A student should visit DTE Maharashtra website for knowing about the list of engineering colleges for which they can apply through MHTCET examination. Earlier many colleges filled their seats through both i.e. MHTCET and AITEEE. The cancellation of AIEEE and introduction of JEE Mains may create confusion. So students are advisable to go through the brochure of MHTCET examination.  Before applying for the colleges, students should give ample weight to campus placement history of the college.
