Hello

Thank you for choosing Mera career guide and writing to us. I appreciate your interest in studying abroad. I can be of good help in this query. You have mentioned that you are a BTech CSE graduate and you have passed out in 2012. May I know what was your percentage in BTech? And are you working since 2012? Even though if you are at work, you should have gained less than two years of work experience by now and think an MBA wouldnt suit you at this stage instead studying an MSc Computer Science will be very apt for you. So, you can choose to study a Masters degree in either CSE or Information management abroad.
Choosing to study abroad requires to follow a step by step process.

  1. First choosing what course you want to study - As said a MSc CSE or Information technology and management would be apt for you.
  2. Choosing the country of study: You should think of where do you want to study abroad, i.e. in which country. The most common destinations for Indian students are the USA and the UK. Other than this students are also increasingly flooding to Singapore, Australia, Canada and some parts of Europe like Germany and Sweden. If you are too much confused about choosing the country then go to step three,
  3. Filter universities by ranking. The only legitimate website that offers the world ranking university table is the QS World rank university table. If you go on this website, you can see the overall university ranking in the world from 1-500 and as well as the subject ranking from 1-100. Based on this you can apply to the top sets of universities. If you would like to be a part of top ranked university, it also means that you require a minimum of 85% and above in your BTech. The very top universities usually select students with a 85% in their undergraduate and also make sure the students get a 325 in GRE and as well as 120 in TOEFL/ or 7.5 in IELTS. If you have not got a 85% in your BTech then it is advisable to not try for top universities and instead choose to apply to medium rank universities.
  4. So now, if you have chosen to study in the USA , Canada or Singapore - GRE and TOEFL are mandatory exams. You can register for the GRE exam visiting the website www.ets.org/gre I myself registered for my GRE exam only on this website and it is authentic with no doubt. Please register for GRE prior to three months of your exam date to give yourself enough time to prepare for the exam. Your GRE score percentile is also mandatory while you want to study in the USA. Next, you should register for TOEFL online by visiting their website, www.ets.org/toefl Try giving yourself at least 2-4 weeks to do good preparation for the final test. With GRE and TOEFL, you are qualified to apply for admissions in the USA, Singapore and Canada.
  5. If you want to study in UK, Australia or else where IELTS is alone mandatory. You can telephone your local British council to register for an IELTS test and with this test you can seek for admission in UK, Australia or anywhere. These countries do not demand a GRE. Hope this helps. Good luck.
