Hello My Dear Career Aspirant,

Glad to know your interest in civil services. India today really needs youth to get into civil services and with the new government coming in, civil services will be the most critical part of the mechanism of the government to get the work done.

I am glad that you approached CareerGuide.com for seeking guidance and advice on your career query. I am sure that the experts here will be able to guide you appropriately.

Course after graduation for civil services success:

As you may be already aware that Civil Services especially IAS is a general nature service and there fore the person becoming an IAS needs to be aware of every aspect of the world and nation irrespective of his / her graduation background.

Since I suppose you are aming at IAS primarily, a post graduation in politics, governance, graduation in law, economics, will be the best option.

If you are a commerce or science or arts graduate, you can take admission into a masters course of arts and can specialise in politics, economics, public policy, public administration, etc. These specialisations are proven to be a great option for clearing civil services.

Masters degree is a must these days since it will give you advanced knowledge.

Coaching for Civil services:

If you choose any of the above subjects for post graduation, I would also recommend you to start joining a coaching class which trains for civil services exams. Coaching classes will be the best since they will provide you systematic guidance, help, support for your studies, information, knowledge and will help in building up your confidence levels.

Coaching is very necessary considering the tough ness of the exams and the failing rate.

However I would also like to tell you that there are many IAS officers who are Medical Doctors (MBBS) but have managed to become IAS. There fore I would like to tell you here that though the right post graduation or graduation helps in such exams, its not compulsory as well looking at the above example.

I am sure with this you will definitely become an IAS officer one day and I wish you the very best for this.

Please do come back in case you would like to discuss more on this.

All the Best!
