Hello student...

First I will introduce you myself, I am having a MBA degree from IIM Shillong with finance specialization, currently I am working as a financial analyst in a private company.I have more than 3 years of experience in the same field.

Coming to your question, you need to know about the job opportunities for a B.Com graduate. As a graduate you can find a lot many jobs available for you. Go to job portals and search by qualification graduate you will find a big list of jobs lower level jobs like clerk, executive, etc.

even if you want some government jobs than search by Government jobs, there also you will find opening for people like you in banking sectors, admin, office executive etc. but for all some or the other selection process will be there like as mentioned below:
  • Face to face interview
  • Written test
  • Group discussion
  • Personal Interview

If you clear all the process than you will get selected for the job opening. All details you can find in job portals like Naukri. com, monster.com, times job .com etc, there you can find all details like eligibility, pay package, job descriptions, selection process, contact details etc.

But be cautious and aware not to be involved in any kind of fraud company, do not pay any one any where for giving a job, believe in yourself and be aware.
Before going for any job opening do enough research about that company and the company's work.

Hope above all points are enough for you to understand where you stand and what all lies out there for you. Do not forget better career options will come only when you will continue your study to higher level like MBA, CA or where ever your interest lies. Good and updated knowledge will lead you ahead in your career path and you can reach levels where you deserve to be. Do not get confused about your future first complete studies jobs will come easily to you, not to worry more about jobs rather focus on improving your skills and knowledge, confidence is also a important factor to success.

All the best for your future and career growth
Thank you.

Hello There!

This is a very common confusion in students and let me tell you that you are not the only one who has such confusion and your confusion is very natural and correct. I am glad that you have approached CareerGuide.com for seeking guidance to your query and now you can be relaxed.

I am an Educationist and have been into career counselling for students from commerce / management / law / engineering streams for more than seven years now. I am also into teaching and have been writing an articles and research papers on various topics including career management for reputed newspapers and magazines across India.

Commerce is a wonderful field with ample of job and entrepreneur opportunities. For being able to decide between whether to go for job or whether to do post graduation depends on factors like family situation (like do you have earn immediately for supporting your family), no real interest in post graduation, no funds to do post graduation, lucrative job offers coming to you or your friends asking you do a job which earns you enough pocket money, etc.

I would like to tell you that when you are in the age of studying, it is recommended to spend some more years in learning, studying and doing a good course. This is because once you get into jobs, it would be very difficult for you to come back to classroom and learn and get degree/diploma along with doing a job and family/home.

I always recommend students that make yourself well qualified and learn the employable skills, which will give you much more good jobs in terms of job profile, salary figure, satisfaction, etc. If you get into job just on the basis of BCom degree you will get only low paid and low end jobs since you are not qualified or experienced. This will then require you to work for atleast five years to get a good experience. On the basis of BCom you can get jobs in BPOs, Call centers, small firms, but the salary will be low and job will not be satisfying.

Therefore I would recommend you to do a good post graduation. Since you are a BCom based on your till now achieved strengths, you can decide which course you can pursue. If you are good in numbers, calculations you can do Chartered Accountancy course. If you are good secretarial work, law aspects, then you can do Company Secretary course. If you like costing subject, then you can go for Cost Accountancy course. If you are wishing to get into corporate management role jobs then you can do MBA.

Best Luck
