Please remember that MBA and other Masters degrees are different. MBA doesn't serve the same purpose as MCom or Msc or MA do. It is different and therefor is open to all the fields of bachelor degrees.

MBA is not merely an extension of BBA but a leadership building program where students from all backgrounds pursue their education. Quite often they are experienced professionals who have worked in various fields, learnt about it and now looking to manage people and lead the way. Therefore MBA has an altogether different context unlike an MCom degree where you will be taught further about commerce.

Coming back to your question, it is a matter of choice where do you want to see yourself after few years. I would suggest you not to look for MBA at this stage but the bachelor degree that you want to pursue. Doesn't matter whether you do BBA or BCom, you will have equal chances of getting in to a good business school. What matters is that whether you have an interest in commerce or business administration. Once you complete your graduation, MBA option will always be open for you. So, don't worry and do well in your bachelors.

Dear Friend ,

For pursuing MBA it hardly matters that you are from BBA or Bcom background. From all three stream ( Science, Arts , Commerce ) students pursue this program . It is not like that only BBA background will help you to pursue MBA program , In this Leadership development program candidates fromall background pursue their program .

I would suggest that focus should be clear considering your future goal where you want to establish in coming years in commerce or Business Management.MBA is purely professional degree, purpose is different from other master degrees. MBA field is definitely vast with some specialisation ofskill and knowledge ,if we campare with other master degrees .So

Concentrate to finish your graduationwith good score , you will have fair chance to getting into a good business school.Try to judge your interest area ,dont get confused. go ahead. Dont worry. Best of luck.

Hello

Choosing to do an MBA in future is really inspiring. May I know in what level of education are you currently in? I assume you should be at school level. A willingness to do an MBA in future is a good thing but you should check whether you really aspire to do an MBA in future and also reason out why. I say this because lots of students are attracted to the MBA tag for unknown reasons, invest in this degree financially, and also spend two years on this education and later on regret that why did they chose to study the MBA. I have many friends who did the MBA degree for name sake but has not utilised it potentially in any way. This requires you to ask yourself why do you want to study an MBA. People generally think MBA is the ultimate target for any profession but there are many other professional degrees apart from the MBA and students often fail to recognise this.

Studying an MBA degree requires ample interest in business and management. You need to ask yourself if you really like to be in such sectors. Business involves either starting or managing ones own business. Management is working for corporates at management positions in any divisions. These roles require managing skills, team working skills, people skills, time management and many more. You can also take up the psychometric assessment from this website to double check if you have all the matching skills to study an MBA. If you have strong interest in business and management, then choosing to study a BBA is an ideal choice. As part of the BBA, you will study about Human resource management, marketing management, Operations management, supply chain management, accounting and finance. Almost all of these individual modules will be repeated in an MBA degree and this way you will develop sound and in-depth knowledge in each of these modules. In an MBA, you will also likely to specialise in a subject.

If you choose Commerce, you can also develop knowledge in two concentrations - commerce and business. Studying a Bcom, you will also study about some of the business subjects indicated above. However, if you like commerce, then you can choose this stream. If you have no interest for commerce then you can avoid studying a BCom.

Finally, ask yourself if you are confident with your interest in business and management subject. If you say yes, then BBA is the right option for you. If you say you also like commerce, then BCom is desirable. Any how after either of these degrees you can do an MBA. My best wishes to your future. Good luck.
