Hello There!

Choosing between MBA and MS after completing computer engineering is definitely not a simple job and therefore I felt excited to answer this and glad that you approached CareerGuide.com for seeking guidance to your confusion. Let me tell you that your confusion is a common one and there is no need to get tensed and worried.

I understand that you are a computer engineer or may be completing computer engineering shortly. I am glad that you are interested in post graduation and let me tell you that this decision of yours is very good and right considering the changing and specialised dynamics of the economy and industry.

Since you have done or doing computer engineering, you may know that it is a technical field. If you are interested in technical field, then doing MS/MTech/ME would be the best. If you are interested in managing projects, leading projects, managing people, taking responsibility of the tasks, being a leader, then MBA would be best suited.

MBA is a non-technical degree while MS / MTech / ME is a technical field.

MBA combined with Engineering is one of the most sought and done career combination in the industry. Through MBA you can rise in the corporate hierarchy easily since you will not be looking into just technical aspects but also business management aspects which are very necessary in todays changing business dynamics, environment and economy.

MBA and MS are very distinct in nature and therefore it would not be right to compare them. Choosing one of them highly depends on your liking, aspiration, ambition, capabilities, skills, abilities, personality, etc. If you choose to do an MBA, may be a specialisation in Systems, IT, Operations, would suit you more. However I have also seen people doing MBA Finance after engineering and doing a job in IT company as a Manager and work for finance related software projects.

MS from a foreign University is a common thing done by engineering students, which gives them good jobs abroad too.

Best Luck
