Good question.

This shows that you are genuinely interested in pursuing a CA course.
Hoping you might be knowing the process of becoming a CA and might have checked the site.
I am sure you are aware that CPT you could appear only after you appear for your 12th exams.
Now the CA institute needs to accommodate students from all over India, pertaining to different boards and streams. Everyone wishes to appear for the exam and not miss a chance.
So keeping the interests of the student they have made it a little flexible so that they can accommodate majority of the students.
Also its an advantage, because supposedly one fails in the first attempt, instead of being disappointed, and loosing a year they can immediately try their luck in the next exam that follows.
But definitely there is no excuse to hard work and trying to clear off at one attempt.
Wish you all the best

Hello My Dear Chartered Accountancy Aspirant,

I am glad to see such a fantastic query and glad that you chose to approach CareerGuide.com for asking it. I am sure that experts here will be able to guide you appropriately.

Why two times same entrance test:

This question of yours is fantastic and shows that how logical you think about the things around you. This quality will take you far in your career since applying logic is the foremost thing which is required in the business and work life.

I would like you to understand that professionals courses viz. Chartered Accountancy, Cost Accountacy, Company Secretaryship follow open enrollment and admission system. That is, there is no time limit or last date to apply for admissions. You can take admission anytime in any month and based on the month of your application you will become eligible to appear for the first attempt of an examination module / stage.

Entrance tests like CPT are held twice a year for the benefit of students all over the country. There are different State Boards which conduct the HSC level exam and each State's day or week for starting and ending of HSC exams may differ. Since students should not lose out sue to this difference, the tests are held twice.

Actually, the tests prescribed to become a lecturer or professor are also taken twice in a year by the University Grants Commission (UGC) - one in June and other in December every year.

Further not all students who sit for the entrance exams clear in first attempt, there fore the ssecond attempt which follows in the year, is beneficial for them. This avoids wasting of an academic year for the students.

Information about CA-CPT exam:

CA-CPT exam is an entry to the Chartered Accountancy profession.

CPT has four papers: Fundamental Accounting (sixty marks); Merchantile Laws (forty marks); General Economics(fifty marks); Quantitative Aptitude (fifty marks)..... So in all two hundred marks exam. All this is based on your 12th (HSC) commerce subjects.

You can take this exam after passing HSC (12th). The exam is MCQ based (multiple choice question) and there is negative marking of 25% for every wrong answer. This makes it competitive exam.

To qualify for the further admission, you will need to score atleast 30% marks in all the subjects.

All the Best
