Professional course in interior design or interior decoration are offered at the various state polytechnics for which the minimum eligibility is usually plus two or equivalent but may also be class 10. The duration of the course could vary between to to four years. Mostly such courses teach preparation of decorative schemes, the design of modern furniture and fitments, working drawings, color studies, lettering, perspective, exhibition design , the study of historical styles , the properties of material and paint technology. Professional training in interior design can be taken up right after completing the plus two or equivalent examination successfully. Admission is on the basis of aptitude tests which evaluate artistic sensibility, technical drawing skills, spatial app reception, sense of color, attention to detail and idea of proportions. Few universities offer three/ four years bachelor's degree programme to students completing class 12th or equivalent. CEPT university Ahmedabad offers a five years undergraduate degree in interior design after class 12 with physics/ maths as compulsory subjects/. In most cases ,one needs to qualify an aptitude test before getting admission. the aptitude test by CEPT Ahmedabad assess imagination, sensitivity to color , lateral thinking , exposure to basic design and interiors, sensitivity to color, 3D form, visual form, craft skills and visual perception and logic of an aspirant.
