Dear student,
Your interest in this different field is highly appreciable. It is rare to see students look out for varied career avenues. Veterinary doctors can work in private and public clinics/hspitals for animals. They can also work in the Government sector in central farms, animal husbandary departments etc. They can also work in the Army at the Remount Veterinary Corps and BSF or the Police departments.

To become a Veterinarian you need to have done a graduation or post graduation in Veterinary Science. The graduation course in India is called B V Sc and A H, i.e. Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry.
To get admission for this course you need to have scored atleast 50% marks with PCB group in 12th class. In addition, admission is based on your score in the common entrance exam conducted by the Veterinary Council of India. This exam is conducted around May. The BVScAH is a five year course including 6 months internship. For post graduation, such an entrance exam is conducted by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR).

Good luck for your pursuits.
