One needs to have a minimum Bachelor degree in Industrial and production engineering to make a career in this field. Those who are interested to make career in research must do Masters in Industrial engineering & or industrial engineering and operational research etc & PhD.

Those who are keen to get into the management can pursue MBA Industrial & Management Engineering. It is the only field of engineering that makes an individual technically equipped while instilling efficient management techniques. It is all about designing/ managing methods and procedures to increase productivity , quality and efficiency in manufacturing process.

The increasing complexity of industrial operations and the expansion of automated processes in factories and offices is contributing to the demand for industrial engineers.

The main areas of work of an industrial engineer are quality control, statistical process control, product ability , motion economy and research and development. They can find employment with manufacturing units, consumer electronics industry, medical and pharmaceutical units, textiles industry, information technology , private consultancy firms & research and development establishment of big companies.
