Hi there,

Wish you a happy new year.

Firstly congratulations that you have already decided which field you wish to make a career in.

Now coming to your next question.

We the masses mainly rely on the media for our daily news whether related to politics or entertainment or shares. We get information either from the print media like newspapaers or magazines or the virtual media like TV or radio.
So this shows you the scope of Media. As it covers every aspects of humans, scope is immense.
Since it is covering minute detailings related to us, it has to be competitive too.
Since everyone wants to be the first at the time the best and the most used source if information.

At a personal level too, since these days work is becoming a one man show, competition is just too much.
For beating this, you need to be a part of the rat race.
This covers your other question.
The traits you need to be in this field, includes:
  • Friendly approach to everyone you know or meet
  • You need to be in touch with everyone, cannot create enemies
  • Diplomatic
  • Creative and innovative
  • Extrovert
  • Being ready to work round the clock
  • Working at the base level
  • Complete knowledge
  • Command and control over your speech and action
  • Non-verbal communications
  • Knowledge about various languages, culture, religion and topics beyond what one can think of
  • Having your own analytic or reasoning capacity
  • Being flexible but not a complete sway
As far as possible, you need to start at the ground level.

In this field one does not require a qualification, but definitely basic qualification is a must for you to enter the work area. But rests would depend on how much are you open to learning and the potentials you carry.
Depending on the experience you can then decide which area you need to then further gain a degree.,
As such for this field, any 12th student, can opt for a BMM course.

As far as specializations are concerned, Media is generally divided into:
  • Journalism
  • Advertisement
  • Public relations.
You can specialize in any of the field mentioned above depending on your line of interests.

Only that you need to have knowledge regarding Animations, Graphic designing, coral draw and other software's that will make work easy and presentable.

Other than the above mentioned fields, you can opt for certification courses related to:
Film making / Editing
Stage or props artists
Though these do not have any degrees, but are also a part of the media especially the entertainment field, which is also a integral part of media.
Though with the BMM specializations, also you could work in the entertainment industry.

Hope this answers your query.

Wish you all the very best.............
