As you have a loan to repay, so focus first on a job which would help you repay your loan.

So first task would for you to have a job in hand as soon as you are out of college. This would help you get rid of one big responsibility i.e repaying your loan. Now as you pursuing electronics and communication degree their is no dearth of job in the sector. Market has opened up and plenty of jobs openings are coming up. Upload your resume on major jobsites and also approach your college's placement division for job opportunities. Look for internships opportunity in your holidays which would give you confidence, corporate knowledge and some money too.

Embedded systems and VHDL both go hand in hand. To be in the sector you need to have knowledge of both the subjects.
Be good with all your subjects, learn the fundamentals and be sincere in your studies, these things would fetch you a good job as well as money.
