The Candidate should have a Master’s Degree in the concerned or relevant subject along with a good academic record throughout one's academic career to apply for the post of Lecturer/Demonstrator.

Candidates seeking promotion to the post of Assistant Professor should have the above mention qualification and should have qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) or equivalent from UGC/CSIR or equivalent, alternatively, PhD in the relevant discipline.

Selection Procedure to the post of a Professor

Minimum Qualifications Required is NET/SLET.  NET- National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted by UGC (University Grant Commission). The candidate should have a Master's Degree with at least 55% Marks from a recognized University to qualify for this examination. After qualifying for this examination, the candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor. SLET- The candidate should have a Master's Degree with at least 55 % Marks to qualify State Eligibility Test (SLET).

There are a lot of terms and conditions when it comes to the eligibility criteria for any exam. But to sum it up in short, you should fulfill the following criteria to apply for the UGC NET JRF exam as per the official UGC NET Notification 2021.

1) Age Eligibility

Your age should be less than 31 years on the first date of the month in which the UGC NET JRF Exam registration process would be concluded. There is also relaxation in the upper age limit for the UGC NET JRF 2021 exam which can be checked in the UGC NET 2021 Notification.

There is no Age Limit for NET, i.e., Assistant Professorship.

2) Educational Qualification for UGC NET (General)

You should have a Master’s Degree from a University/Institution recognized by UGC with a Minimum of 55% marks (this will be 50% in case of SC/ST/PWD/transgender candidate) or grade.

Eligibility Criteria is a vast topic and has a lot of things to be discussed. For further details, read here the complete UGC NET 2021 Eligibility Criteria.

To make it easier for you, I have made a separate blog as to how to fill the online application form for the UGC NET JRF exam without making any mistakes (our generation is a little messier too).

The candidate should to how to fill the Online Application Form.
