Hello Sunil,
Welcome to CareerGuide.com!!!
Pleased to hear from you.

Well sunil often times where the terms "I am Software Developer" or " I am Software Engineer" but very few can understand what is the difference between these two. So before deciding to make career in these fields its really very needed to understand the difference between these two and there way of working.Software Engineer and Software Developer are inter related terms but that doesn't mean that they are same.

Lets see what is the difference between these two is:-
A Software Engineer is engaged in software development;not all software developers, however, are engineers. Software engineering means applying principles to software creation.
A software engineer is a person who applies the principles of engineering,,mathematical and computer science principles to design and development of the software.

A Software developer is a person concerned with the facets of the software engineering.Their job includes designing, implementing and testing the software.A software engineer,on the other hand is a practitioner of software engineering. They apply the principles of engineering to the design, development, maintaining, testing and evaluation of the software and systems that make computers or anything containing software work.Hence it can be said that the job of a software engineer has bigger scope.

A software developer develops stand - alone software, which is more than just a simple program. He gets involved with all phases of the development, design and coding. He takes part in design, computer programming,or software project management.A developer may contribute to the overview of the project on the application level rather than component - level or individual programming tasks.

A Developers Job include:-
1.Software Design
2.Actual core implementation
3.Other required implementations(eg.installation,configuration,customization,integration,data migration)
4.specification
5.Participation in software product definition, including business case or gap analysis
6.Requirement analysis
7.Development and refinement of throw-away simulations or prototypes to confirm requirements.
8.Maintenance
9.Authoring of documentation needed by users and implementation partners
10.Testing,including defining/supporting acceptance testing and gathering feedback from pre-release testers.

So Software Engineer and Software developers have a slight difference between them with respective to their works.

I hope you find this information useful and helpful.

Wish you Good Luck for your Bright Career!!!

Feel free to get in touch again.

Thank you

Warm Regards,
Prathamesh K.
