Let me first explain you what is under writer: A company of other entity that administers the public issuance and distribution of securities from a corporation or other issuing body. An under write works closely with the issuing body to determine the offering price for the securities, buy them for the issuer and sells them to investors via the under write distribution network.
Under writers generally receives their underwriting fees from their issuing clients but they also usually earn profits when selling the under written shares to investors. However, the under writer assumes the responsibilities of distributing the securities issues to the public. If they cant sell all the securities at the specified offering price , they may be forced to sell the securities for less than they paid for them or retain the securities for themselves.
Now there are different types or groups of under writings:
1. Real state under writing
2. Forensic under writing
3. Sponsorship under writing
4. Insurance under writing

5. Bank under writing
6. Mortgage underwriter
7. Sponsorship under writing
To become an under writer you have to study the courses, which could be a bachelors degree in accounting, finance, sales, economics, banking or commerce. After obtaining the degree form a reputed institute or university, you have to under go training where you may choose to specialize. The specialization fields I have mentioned above.
The training will help you to understand more about the jobs of a under writer. During training program, you have to be very vigilant, so that you can learn and understand the things. The training program will only sharpen your skills and talent. After completion of training program you can choose your field. Although the specialization in which you have undergone training, will help you more. Therefore, it will be very important for you to choose your specialization at initial stage.
Another very important point will be during your training program, try to do things independently, this will give you confidence later when you will work independently. If any thing goes wrong, your superior or trainer will be there to correct you.
The under writer can also be self employed.

Graduation in any field however, graduation in finance, economics, maths, commerce, business administration etc. are preferred by most companies.

Post-graduation in finance, commerce, business administration adds to an advantage.
