Interesting question.

But my answer is why do you wish to pursue Psychology and not Psychiatry.
In case you are interested in Psychology, and are from the Science background, why not apply for medicine and pursue MBBS, which is a 5 1/2 years course and then at the masters level you could opt for Psychiatry.

The advantage over Psychology here would be that with counseling you can also give medications too.

But never-the-less, the answer to your question, is Yes, you can pursue Psychology in the Graduate level.
But then instead of taking a BA in Psychology, best would be to make use of your Science background, opt for a B.Sc in Psychology.
The advantage here is that firstly you would make complete use of your Science knowledge as well as neurology and physiology.
The another advantage here is that at the masters level, you have another two option apart from the regular Clinical, Counseling, Industrial psychology, you can choose Criminology or Forensic psychology.

But definitely it is your choice.

As far as colleges are concerned, mostly all colleges have Psychology. You would have to make a choice based on meeting the ex-students or catch up about the college reviews online or through their website or the alumni sites.

Wish you good luck.........

Thanks Shrikant for your query. Yes you can pursue psychology. You have two options, if you have very good score in science then you can opt for Medical Eductaion (MBBS) and then do MD in Psychiatry.

Ofcourse this has financial implications and competition.

For opting psychology, you need to get into BA in Psychology, then eneter into masters program (MA or MSc) in psychology. TO become a practicing clinical psychologist you need to do MPhil in Clinical Psychology.

In North India, follwoing colleges/University offer UG/PG course in Psychology.
University of Delhi
JNU, Delhi
Amity Institute of Psychology and Allied Sciences, Noida
Unversity of Lucknow
Banaras Hindu University
Lady Shri Ram College for Women

I hope this helps you. For further query, feel free to get back to me.
Wish you best luck,
Apurva
