I love animals but also love helping people I'm compassionate and want a career related to something in psychology and social work if an option is available where I can help animals then I would love it!! I left science and maths in class 9th so being a vet was not an option. Anyways I need help and your advice because I'm still confused with what career should I choose..I have decided to go with ba h in general psychology for now..but I'm not convinced and would appreciate the advice given. Dear Aspitant,

i welcome you to the careerguide platform. Reading you write up on your current position ,i am very sure that you will excel in the field that i think you should take up in future. as you have done your class 12 ,i would suggest you to take your bachelors degree in BSW that is bacheolors in social work or B.A hons in social work or aB.A in social work. Social work is not just an act of charity anymore incurrent times as one can certainly make a career in social work also .

As a social worker you can help needy people and the society at largeby providing education facilities ,health services , women ,children ,animal beneficiary services etc.. there is no shame or embarresment if select this field as your career options ,instead its a matter of great pride and satisfaction that you are among those few reveredindividuals who have the will and the courage along with a big heart to return the good and benefitting back to society and nature that you were gifted with !! especially in the modern society where one has no time for others and no money for the needy and no interest into the needs ,trauma and problems of the less fortunate groups of our society .

Many institutions offer bachelors and masters degree courses in social work known as BSW & MSW.there are M.phil ans Phd programs offered in social work too ,if you are keen on it you may approach me for admissions into any bsw .msw or other courses, and we shall guide to to the reputed institutions and complete your admission procedures too. After getting a degree in social work one can find jobs in government sector, private & corporate sectors,NGO'S,& international organizations or even choose to go free lancing .

In your case your knowledge into the commerce feild will prove to be an added advantageas that will equipyou to efficiently tackle and manage the financial side of the sector that you will belong to . So always take things in your stride , believe in yourself and the almighty as keeping faith in him you shall be directed ,protected ,corrected andrewarded too .

Wish you loads of luck and success for your bright and rewarding future!!!

Thank you for approaching counsellors at meracareerguide. I should definitely appreciate for the fact that you have analysed your strengths, interests and abilities very well. You are almost on the right track and yes please go ahead with studying BSc Phychology if you like. But there is slight issue here. With a BSc Psychology you can become a clinical psychologist or even a professional counsellor and be compassionate with people, listen to their issues and advice on certain remedies but this will have nothing to do with working with animals on a daily basis or even caring for them.

Please double check your self if you love animals and want to only caress them or if you love animals and therefore want a profession to protect them. Caring and protecting are entirely different and you should think your self where you stand personally and where you want to stand professionally. So this motivation means there is a large difference between the type of careers you opt for. As said if you choose BSc Psychology, you will have everything to do with humans only but if you choose some other subject then you can work for both animals and human sector. For this i personally would think BSW Bachelor of social work will be more apt to you than a BSc Psychology program. With a Social work degree you can choose to work with not for profit organisations that either works for human development or empowerment or only works for protecting animals and peculiar species. So in my opinion if you choose social work degree, you can work in any sector that interests you and yes you can also obviously change careers whenever you like.
To ensure you are making the right choice, it is highly necessary that you are choosing the career that matches well with your type of personality. To identify this you may use the psychometric assessment test that is available on thois mera career website. Taking the test you will understand if you are strongly people oriented or strongly wishing for care and protection for animals. If the test recommends you for people oriented roles then BSc Psychology is more apt for you. If the test is convincing you that you are desirable for caress and protection profession then BSW Social work is the right choice for you. I hope i served myperspectivesin the right way today. Wish you all the very best.
