Dear Tanmoy,

Thanks for your call! Call was disconnected and I thought to share my perspectives on your queries here.

There are few options for career growth:

Growth within IT sector: Work with the position for 2 years.  You can change company after gaining 2 years of experience. While working, you can identify your strengths and weaknesses. Also you can identify technical areas for improvement  and do short term courses or learn from your seniors. You need to keep watch on the latest development in IT industry and scale up your skills as per the industry requirement. For example, if you are in software development, you can learn new languages, you can volunteer yourself for specific project in your company etc.

Academic sector: You can do MTech and then PhD to get into academics. After PhD you can join academic institution as Assistant Professor and reach up to Professor level. You can engage in consulting work with corporates, take up projects during your work as an academician.

Management: You asked for the scope of management. Any industry requires management experts. But remember, management is a different field than that of IT. Management field has a good scope if you have done MBA from reputed & premier institutions. You can prepare for CAT/MAT and can appear for entrance exam next year. Certainly there is good scope of doing MBA, especially if you see yourself as management expert in IT industry. After MBA, you can either choose to remain in the IT industry or change the industry.

Before you take decision, I would recommend you to take up Ideal Career Test from www.careerguide.com. This will help you understand your strengths/skills, interests and personality traits. With this, you will be able to identify ideal career field and career experts from CareerGuide can help you prepare career growth plan.

If you have any query, you can talk with me. I would be happy to help you.

Best Wishes for Bright Career,

Dear Aspirant,

Nice to know that you are an IT Engineering and got employed in TCS. This proves that you have had the necessary employability skills which majority of engineers lack today.

The best way to grow in your job is to continue learning on the job. TCS provides one of the best work cultures across the IT sector and excellent growth opportunities for capable employees. I suggest you to should earn at least 5 years of experience.

If you wish to learn something alongside, then I would suggest to appear for CAPM Certification from Project Management Institute, USA. This is the basic level certification in Project Management. Project Management knowledge will help you scale up in your job. Later your aim should be PMP Certification which is necessary in IT sector.

Best wishes
