Below is the list of common myths about writers and their work:

  • Writers have to sit at one place only:This is one notion that is there in the mind of most people. However the truth is, they have to travel a lot, go to different locations to do their research. The job also requires to work in different locations. Therefore one cannot afford to sit inside a room to write.
  • Writers work alone:Most people think that writers have to work alone and the job is not something that involves team work. This is not true. They have to coordinate with editors and other team members to complete the final story. They also work with researchers and journalists to get more facts about the story.
  • A writer has to be grammar perfect:This is again one notion that most of the people falsely believe. There are proofreaders doing this job - checking the grammar and doing the spell check. A writer has to present the idea in a simple and interesting manner. The other team members take care of the technical part of the writing style.
  • Reading makes you a better writer:No, reading makes you a better reader. Being a writer requires different set of skills
. Only writing makes you a better writer.
