But how do we get into law as a profession?

If you are a high school student, you can do graduation and then L.L.B. Mostly students opt for B.A in graduation as it gives a better understanding of our society. Another option is the B.B.A L.L.B program which will give you experience in the management field with the law as the base. For both the option, you will have to clear CLAT (Common Law Admission Test).

There are 16 NLUs, which are known to be the best law schools in India. They offer experienced professors and a rich alumni base.

To get into most of the law schools you will have to clear CLAT. And some colleges accept LSAT (Law School Admission Test) for admissions. Symbiosis has its own entrance test. So, the first step would clear either CLAT, LSAT or another test according to the eligibility of the college.

CLAT is an online test which usually happens in the month of May. To crack the test, one needs to focus on these 5 sections- Logical Reasoning, GK & Current Affairs, Legal Aptitude, Elementary Math and English. The candidate has to answer 200 MCQs in 120 minutes.

Basic skills required to be successful in Law?

One needs to have the ability to read and make meaning out of large tough texts. The bare acts and laws can be very long and dull. You should be able to read it and comprehend it. If you have command over the language, it will be useful and give you an edge over others. You should be able to communicate yourself clearly.

Also, one needs to think wisely and logically for obvious reasons. Also, law professionals need to have emotional intelligence. The lawyers, for example, need to have empathy towards the clients as this will build trust between the clients and lawyers and hence will have a better personal connection.

Financial literacy is another thing that one needs to have in this profession. Most of the clients come to lawyers for financial issues, and this situation, financial literacy is a must. One must also be able to write well.

The profession is for those who want to be part of the justice process. You will also be thrilled with the amount of money one gets in the law profession (obviously if you are good). One can expect anything from Rs 15,000 per month to Rs 2,00,000 per month for freshers. The amount will definitely encourage many to join the profession. But not will be able to get this package.
