Not only this, but you are working from home and that means no one is there to stop you from doing what you want to do. When no one is watching, you can end up getting into anything without getting yelled at by your boss since, you are your own boss. However, there are things you can do to increase your productivity while you are self-employed.

How to Boost Productivity While Self-Employed

Wake up and Get Started Early

Many people say their most productive time during their workday is the early morning hours and late night hours. If you are a morning person, you will want to wake up and get started earlier. A good habit to form for boosting productivity is to get started on your work as soon as you wake up. Don’t give yourself time to fall back to sleep. As soon as your alarm goes off, get your coffee ready and turn your computer on immediately. Don’t let your mind wander or rest. If you find you have an easy time falling asleep sitting up, get to work right away. Starting work right away will help keep you awake to be able to get your work done.

Pretend Like You Are Going into the Office to Work

Pretending like you are going into the office to work will definitely boost your productivity. This means getting dressed like you are going into the office to work. This will help you concentrate on the work you have to do because you will feel like you are at the office working.

Choose the Perfect Workspace

When you are self-employed, it is all too easy to work anywhere you want but you should have a dedicated workspace that is perfect for the work you need to do. Having the perfect workspace where help you concentrate easier to be able to focus on the task at hand. You need a workspace that can be closed off from everyone else so that you can focus better. If you need to use headphones for listening to music to drown out certain noises while working, get noise cancelling headphones.

Don’t Stay Home to Work

If you are more able to concentrate when you are at a place like a coffee shop, go some place else to work. Go to Starbucks or any other fast food place or coffee shop where there is free public wi-fi to get your work done. This is especially useful for those who need a noisy environment to work at to better concentrate. Yes, there are some people who concentrate better with noise around them.

Make it too Hard to Log-on to Social Media Sites

Social media sites like Facebook and Twitter are total time-wasters when you are trying to work. However, when working from home, you find it all too easy to log-on to these sites. This is why you should do whatever you have to do to make it harder to get on these sites. If you have them bookmarked, you should take them off of your bookmark folder to keep it from being too easy to have access to these sites. The thing about social media is that it can all too easily suck you into it and before you know it, you have wasted an hour doing nothing but reading your friends’ posts on there. Because of this, you have wasted an hour not being productive with your work.

Save Calls and Meetings for Afternoon

Make your calls to your friends and family and save time for meeting with them for the afternoon when you either have time for a long break or you are done with, at least, the most important work you need to do, if not all of it by then. This way, the mornings are dedicated to doing nothing but work and being productive. Make sure to let everyone know you cannot speak to them until the afternoon or evening when your work is all done for the day.

By following the above tips, you will be able to boost your productivity while working from home. Is there anything else you can think of to help boost productivity when you are self-employed?
