St. Xavier’s College

St. Xavier’s College was established in the year 1860. It is the first autonomous college of Kolkata. It is affiliated with the University of Calcutta. It is named after St. Francis Xavier, a Jesuit saint of the 16^th century, who travelled to India. The NIRF ranking of this college is 7. College offer Undergraduate and Postgraduate various courses in disciple like Arts, Science, Commerce, Business Administration and Education. It also offers Certificate and Diploma for short term courses.

College runs in three shifts as follows

Morning shift (6am to 9:50am) – In this shift Boys student of B.com courses are coming. 

Day shift (9am to 4:30pm) – In this shift both boys and girls student of B.A., B.Sc. & B.Ed. are attending the classes.

Evening Shift (3pm to 8pm) – In this shift both boys and girls student of B.B.A & B.Com are attending the classes.

On the part of placements, the college done exceptionally well, through the year placement cell of college organizes workshops/seminar/lecture session to give industry exposer to the students. Companies like TCS, JP Morgen, Google, DE Shaw & Infosys etc. visit the campus for placements. According to Xavier’s Placement cell report around 500 students got placement in previous year. Annual Packages offered by companies was between range of 3 lakhs to 20.5 lakhs.

Presidency University

Presidency University was established in 1817, formerly known as Hindu college and Presidency college.it is prestigious college of the country which give two noble prize winners in the form of Amartya Sen and Abhijit Banerjee. It is great place for the study of arts and science courses, especially for economics. Currently college has 16 departments in a disciple of Arts, Science & Performing Arts. Lady Brabourne College

The Lady Brabourne College was established in year 1939. It had very humble beginning with only 35 Muslim girls student and 9 faculty members in rented house in Park circus. The foundation stone of present building was laid on 26^th August, 1939 by Sir J. Woodhead. The college named after the wife of Lord Brabourne, The Governor of Bengal. It is premier institute for women’s education in Kolkata. It offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in Arts and Science. Presently 1171 girls pursuing degree course from here. College organizes various seminar/workshops and career oriented programme through out the year to help student to choose right career.it also helps students to get industry exposure.

Scottish College

Scottish college was established on 13^th July, 1830.The college founded the Rev. Alexander Duff, who was the first missionary to India from Scotland church. This college give many outstanding people to country chief among them being Swami Vivekanand and Netaji Subash Chandra Bose. It is affiliated to the University of Calcutta. The college is famous for academic excellence and among the top institute of Kolkata. It offers undergraduate course in 15 subjects, Postgraduate course in 2 subjects and also offer Bachelor of Education course only for women’s student. The college enjoy autonomous status for PG courses. The college placement cell which started in 2004 has provided placements to a large number of graduates. Placement cell regularly organizes seminar/ workshop and Lecture session for the students. These sessions help students to enhance their skills and they also get industry exposure.
