The JEE Advanced AIR is used as a criterion for admission to various undergraduate engineering programs at National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other participating institutes. Based on their AIR, candidates can apply for admission to these institutions and the cut-off for admission varies from one institution to another.
The JEE Advanced  AIR is a rank list of all the candidates who appeared for the exam and is published along with the JEE Advanced  Result. The AIR is an important determinant of a candidate’s eligibility for admission to engineering programs in top colleges in India and can also be used by various public and private sector organizations for recruitment purposes.
