Ground staff refers to all the personnel that are employed to work on premises of an airport. The scope of duties varies widely and includes working on the airport terming, security personnel, ticket checkers, boarding pass generators, inspection managers, storage and luggage transportation management, food and beverage security checkers. They paly an important role in smooth movement of the passengers from entering the airport till they board a plane.
Some of the ground duty staff get interchanges for the duties and thus they require knowledge of all the commercial aspects of the airport. In addition, the ground duty staff is responsible for maintaining contact with all the planes flying, directing them and ensuring their safety. They are well-trained in handling emergency situations in a calm and discreet manner. Their duties are mostly divided into commercial and technical roles.
