Lieutenant is the junior most Commissioned Officer of the Indian Army, a gazette officer of the Government of India. As a Lieutenant, an Indian Army officer is one who works under Armed Forces and is responsible for defending their own country and its union territories for maintaining and supporting peace, law and order. Peacekeeping and humanitarian work is their prime goal of their job. They participate in, or support, combat and other military operations, such as humanitarian or disaster relief. An army officer needs to operate, maintain, and repair equipment and perform technical and support activities in the area of work. They also supervise junior enlisted personnel and plan, organize, and lead troops and activities in military operations.
Training is essential part of the course.
You have to appear for National Defense Academy-(NDA) Entrance examination conducted by UPSC in January and Second NDA exam at Jun.
Combined Defense Services Examination (CDS), exam conducted in Month of November.
