Forest officers have an outdoor job and this includes mapping of forests, supervising forest area, documenting forest resources such as timber and wood. They also regularly check the areas that can be put open for cattle grazing and the areas that should be kept in control for wildlife creatures and resources of food and water for all the animals and other species within the forest. Their job not only includes supervising but also technical detailing.
They have an important role in wildlife preservation, controlling atmosphere for endangered species, taking proper measures regarding forest thinning or invaders. In addition, many forests create funds through tourist development around the forest area. They are in control of managing such activities so that there is no harm to the wildlife and forests while funds are created. They have technical role in supporting industries that are based on forest products and provide proper guidelines to them on how to get the best usage of the resources while forests are not harmed.
Internship is provided in terms of subordinates under forest officers.
