Hi

In India, one of the most grinding and the eminent entrance exams is an engineering entrance exam. Every year lakhs of students appear for this entrance exam. In India, to be an engineer is prestigious stuff for the family, the friends and their society. Most of the strenuous tasks are taken by the government bodies of India. These exams have elevated the level of intricacy which goes on escalating each year.

Engineering entrance is conducted by the government body named CBSE abbreviated as “central board of secondary education” it conducts many engineering entrance exams at various levels. IIT-JEE is the most prestigious which is held at national level and at sub levels are state engineering exams, which are conducted by the state government simultaneously. The national level entrance test allows student’s admission to numerous IITs and NITs depending on student’s rank in this entrance exam. There are 19 IIT and 32 NIT 18 IIIT and 19 other government colleges all across India in which students can frame their future. In 2003 IIT-JEE entrance was substituted by JEE (joint entrance examination) and JEE Advanced which is authoritative for taking admissions in various colleges and courses in India through objective based exams. Every year over 200,000 students are obliged by being admitted in these engineering colleges and emerge as future engineers.

JEE Mains consists of two online and offline examinations. Students have an option to opt only for one or can appear in both.  Admission to B.Tech and B.E courses are done through the ranking of students after evaluation of Paper 1. Admission in courses on B.Arch and B.Planning course is done through Paper 2 examination. In Paper 2 students have the option of only offline examination as it includes sketching and subjective questions. Paper 1 is conducted both online and offline as it consists only objective questions of 360 marks and there is negative marking too. There are 3 exceptional institutes which take admission through JEE Advanced Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs), Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology and the Indian Institute of Sciences.

Students qualifying Paper 1 examination are eligible for giving the JEE Advanced examination. Students qualified in Paper 1 can take admission in the respective colleges after counseling.  JEE Main 2017 exam will be evaluated without the senior secondary exam or state board examination of class 12th. Cut off in both the papers depends on highest marks obtained by any student that year and 70 percentile is drawn out which is cut off for the qualifying exam that year. Evaluation pattern is as such that, 4 marks are given for each correct question and 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer. Aspirants of NITs, IIITs and GFITs  have to score at least 75% marks in the senior secondary exam or have to gain top 20 percentile in their class 12 exam conducted by any recognized board.

Special preferences are given to SC/ST candidates, even in entrance form filling and cutoff criterion. General quota students have to pay INR 1000 for filling the form and SC/ST students have only to pay INR 600 for both papers. PWD students also have to pay only INR 600. Forms are available online for all the students and admit card is also available online. For SC/ST students, 65% are minimum required marks in the senior secondary exam conducted by and recognized board. JAB and CSAB both are combined to form JOSSA (joint seat allocation authority) which is accountable for the counseling process. Several rounds of counseling sessions take place until all the students who are qualified have been allotted their seats.

There are also many private entrance examinations conducted by various universities and colleges and even some government colleges take the separate exam to fill their vacant seats left from JEE entrance.

JEE refreshes its form of entrance every year for the betterment of students and find brighter and refined engineers. This vibrant change in exam pattern is to ensure fair merit-based selection of students and also oppose emerging of various coaching institution culture widely following the pattern for preparation for these exams.
