To become a professor of furniture designing one should need a relevant qualification and industry experience. For this you need to follow this route. First, study a 10th class and obtain minimum first class, then pass 12th class with minimum first class and there after enroll into a bachelors course that is related to Furniture designing. Therefore, you may consider to study a BSc Design or B.Des. Furniture/ interior design course.

 

 

 


One of the very high reputed, top institutes in India will be National Institute of design, Hyderabad. You can enrol into a Bachelor course here and the following course will be suited to you. Graduate Diploma in Furniture and interior designing. It is a four year undergraduate course that you need to study and pass with first class. It is essential to have passed 10th class and 12th class to be eligible to apply for this bachelors program. They run an entrance test every year and students are expected to pass the test with high mark to get admitted and be aware that they have only 15 seats. You can also study a Masters degree here which is a 2.5 year program, Post graduate diploma in furniture and interior design after this bachelors program.

 

 

 


For students who have some other undergraduate degree like the Engineering, or computers and are interested to switch careers can consider studying this Post graduate diploma course and enter work in furniture designing. So there are finally two ways to become a professor in furniture designing,

 


1. One completing Bachelors degree and then go into employment at a designing company and reaching a senior position at work, after which you can return to the academia and work as a professor with minimum of 15 year work experience after a senior corporate position.

 


2. Next consider studying the Masters degree and then write the General UGC-LEC exam and with this lectureship qualification you can choose to work as a lecturer at college initially. After a few years of work experience, you will be promoted as a professor.
