Air hostesses and flight attendants are service providers who are responsible for ensuring a safe passage for travelers as well as tending to their needs such as fulfilling their culinary requests or providing them medical care.  There are various parameters according to which the candidates are judged such as one‘s height, weight, their age and their marital status among many others.

Standards of physical health

  • The height of females ranges from a minimum of 5 feet 1 inch while the minimum height condition for males is about 5 feet 6.9 inches. But different airlines have distinct demands.
  • Candidates should weigh in proportion to their height.
  • Those who have a blemish free clear complexion are at an advantage.The candidate has to be physically fit and healthy. They are medically screened to ensure this.
  • The lower limit of acceptable eyesight is around 6/9. There are many airlines which accept only the perfect eyesight of 20/20.
  • Health wise, the candidate must be in the pink of health. They must have no history of mental illness or any cardiovascular diseases.

Apart from educational and other qualifications, aspirants require certain qualities as well which would make them stand apart from the rest. Those include the following values:

  • The marital status should be preferably unmarried, however not all airlines follow this hard and fast rule.
  • Generally, the age of the candidate ought to range from 17-26 years. Yet, this arrangement is flexible as some airlines provide relaxation on this issue.
  • Candidates must have an Indian passport and they should be declared medically fit to serve the airlines.
  • Background checks need to be cleared by the applicants who are applying to airlines especially abroad based air carriers.
