Dear friend, there are many disciplines to become a biologist. You have to study the biology subject from your secondary classes. In 10+2 you have take biology as one of the subject. In graduation you have to choose any one or two of the following:
Botany, zoology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Environmental Sciences, Biomedial Sciencs, Forensic Sciences, Nanobiotechnology.

Besides the above subjects you may also become biologist by opting BSc Agriculture. After BSc agriculture, you will be a simple graduate. To become a biologist you have to do MSc in any one the agriculture subject, such as
MSc Agronomy, MSc Plant Breeding & Genetics, MSc Horticulture. MSc Forestry, MSc Entomology, MSc Nematology. After obtaining masters degree you have to to doctoral degree in any one of subject mentioned for MSc.

Similarly, you choose any one biology subject mentioned before. You have to do masters and doctoral degree program to become a biologist. You may also change your stream in doctoral degree. If you are holding a masters degree in Botany then you are eleigible for getting a doctoral degree in Microbiology or biotechnology or biochemistry or genetics.

I know many people who have simple graduation in zoology, botany and chemistry and they have studied Microbiology or biotechnology in masters degree program. Or you have masters degree in Microbiology or biotechnology you may get PhD in nanobiotechnology or moelular biology. The reason is that these subjects are inter disciplinary.

Most of the senior professors in the universities are now biotechnologist or microbiologist, but they are either simple botanist or zoologist. As they have the degree of boany or zoology in their doctoral degree program.

In biology field the added advantage is that you may choose any subject related to biology to make your career. Let me give you my example. I have done masters and doctoral degree in Microbiology. Initially, I have worked on plant-microbe-interactions aspects, later I changed my field and now I am working on environmental aspects. I have guided many MSc students, who carried out their research projects on environmental aspects.

The basic thing is that, you have to study biology from your schooling and keep any subject of biology till you achieve your degree of PhD. You may work on any aspect or discipline of biology to make your career as "Biologist".
