There are three types of professional degreesin architecture offered through colleges and universities:

- 5-year Bachelor of Architecture programs intended for students entering programs from high school or with no previous architectural training

- 2-year Master of Architecture programs for students with a preprofessional undergraduate degree in architecture or a related area

- 3 or 4-year Master of Architecture programs offered to students with degrees in other disciplines

To enter the Bachelor Program, following requirements are there:

1. To pass the 12th standard with at least 55% (it depends on university also) with subjects Physics, Chemistry and Maths.

2. Writing the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE).

3. Your JEE score will decide your college.

4. Some institutes also conduct their separate exam. You need to clear that particular exam in order to make the entry.

Hi,

Architectsare the real creatirs of amazing buildings and structures. Skyscappers in metro cities would not have been possible without them. While capitalism furthers the growth ad prosperity of human race, tall buildings with beautiful designs and glory show the grandeur. The rebuilding of 'Twin Towers' collapsed in 9/11 incident and other toweres and structures shows the real dint of human talent and excellence, creativity and vision.

Required skills:
A person requires sound communications skills and immense physical stamina to get into the profession of architecture. He is epected to work on desk as well as on the construction site. Excellent memory and sound concentration level, flexibility, patience, team spirit, responsibility and accountability, etc. are some common personality traits which are essential for professional success in architecture and design. But it is the right credentials in academics which matters the most in architecture.

Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry at the 10+2 level only can apply for admission to study architecture at graduate level.

Various colleges offers undergraduate course in B.Arch which lasts for 5 years. The selection is done through and entrance exam conducted by the Council of Architecture throughout India.

On the other hand engineering colleges select students on the basis of the result to the appriapriate engineering courses. Similarly, some private colleges offering courses in architecture have their own criteria which are based on +2 marks of students. Students interested to further their knowledge in architecture can pursue post-graduation in architecture for two years.

What would it cost me?
Various private and government colleges and universities in India offer B.Archcourse which last for 4 years. the fee of the course depends a lot upon the reputation of the institute or aid from the governent. Similarly, the fees structure varies for Diploma and Degree courses. The government aided institute or colleges charge nominal fees from students, which can be any amount in the range of 1,60,000 to 2,30,000, while in private institute, students are asked a hefty fee between 2,00,000 - 3,50,000. The fees does not include expenses incurred in the form of hostel charges, library fees, etc.

Candidates who have not make out to degree level education in Architecture colleges may opt for a Diploma Course wherein they may be asked to pay fees in the range of 1,30,000 to 2,00,000.
