A commercial pilot flies aircraft carrying passenger or cargo or both, unlike an air force pilot who flies aircraft defending the country from enemy attack. Flying aircraft is just one of the responsibilities of commercial pilot. They have also to be well versed in meteorology, air navigation an must know the intricacies of the equipment and instrument under their control
. Pilot have to plan out flights, timings, refueling , schedules etc. They have to take safeguard against all eventualities such as adverse weather , loss of contact with air traffic control, sudden mechanical snags etc. Before take off pilots, double check meteorological readings, condition of the equipment, air pressure and temperature inside the aircraft and ensure the correct balance of weight of the aircraft ; in short , they take all precautionary measures to ensure a smooth , trouble free flight..In short they take all precautionary measures to ensure smooth , trouble free flight. They are the captain in charge, who are responsible for the safety of the crew and passenger. To be a successful airline pilot one must have Perfect physical health, mental and emotional stability and balance, a positive, meticulous, disciplined attitude, sense of responsibility , aptitude for scientific/ technical study, mental and physical coordination , sense of adventure, courage , the quality of a leader and self confidence.
